Back to Press releases

Kingston, Jamaica. October 17, 2018
– Globally, Nestlé has been an avid supporter of the search for a cure and breast cancer support through product reformulation and special editions of product lines including the KITKAT Ruby Chocolates. This year, Nestlé Jamaica has upped the ante as it relates to its support of the fight against breast cancer. The FMCG company kick-started the month of October by lighting its corporate office pink demonstrating the company’s solidarity in the global fight against breast cancer for the month of October.  The building has also been outfitted with the iconic pink ribbons and a montage of affirmations to help staff members power through Breast Cancer Awareness month.

In observance of World Mammography Day on Friday October 19, 2018 the company recently announced that it will cover the cost of 100 cancer screenings for persons at the Jamaica Cancer Society Headquarters on Lady Musgrave Road. “We understand the financial climate of our consumers but what we understand more is the importance of wellness for our nations people and so we had to find a way to say We Care at Nestlé,” say Public Relations Manager Garfene Grandison. He continued, “We have committed to pay for the first 100 persons who are interesting in getting screened for cancer on Friday. All they have to do is to come to the Jamaica Cancer Society and sign up to get tested,” he ended.

Nestlé Jamaica Limited will also donate part proceeds from its October sales of all its Brands in the modern trade to the fight against cancer.

According to Marketing Manager, Shawna Kidd, “At Nestlé, we want to be the source of good. Breast cancer is a concern that affects our consumers, our employees, our customers and our family members so we want to do our part to support the fight against cancer. For the second year, we are mobilizing our teams and getting involved through many activations inclusive of retail program, partnering with the Jamaica Cancer Society, under the theme-Find it Early…Live Longer,” she stated.

Last year Nestlé Jamaica presented a cheque for Five Hundred and Thirty Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty Two Dollars to the UHWI representing a portion of Nestlé Jamaica's FITNESS Pink Ribbon Cereals sales allocated to support the fight against Breast Cancer in Jamaica.
