Healthy Kids Programme

Teaching kids how to live a healthy lifestyle through nutrition education

VIDEO: About Nestlé Healthy Kids Global Programme

Nestlé Trinidad and Tobago’s Healthy Kids Programme epitomises our commitment to nutrition, health and wellness! Launched in 2011 with the endorsement of the Ministry of Education, this three-year primary school programme teaches children how to live a healthy lifestyle through a combination of nutrition education and healthy activity. It’s been a hit with kids and parents alike!

Nestlé established the Healthy Kids programme out of our concern about the growing incidence of obesity and diabetes amongst children under the age of 12 years here in Trinidad and Tobago. Initially piloted in one school, Nestlé Healthy Kids has now been rolled out in eight schools and has been taught to more than 2,000 kids!

Six educational modules are taught to the children by their teachers over a three-year period. These modules expose children to the basic elements of leading a healthy lifestyle. Parents are included as well, through discussions at Parent-Teacher meetings and ongoing newsletters which encourage the entire family to participate!

The following schools are currently part of this exciting programme

  • Dunross Preparatory School
  • Belmont Government Primary School
  • Mafeking Government Primary School
  • St. Monica’s Prep Schoolol
  • Sacred Heart Girls RC School
